COLTEC presents the iTechcoat project at Techtextil 2017. Integrating COLTEC’s vision for innovation and development of new and increasingly technical and differentiated products, the iTechcoat project is based on the research and development of a new generation of multifunctional flexible structures, Intelligent and of aesthetic valorization by way of hot melt localized superficial modification.
This project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) through the Northern Regional Operational Programme (NORTE2020), in the form of SI I&DT Individual.
From 9 to 12 May, COLTEC will be present at Techtextil 2017 in Frankfurt.
As a reference company in the manufacture and sale of breathable and impermeable laminated fabrics and fabrics for home textiles and technical clothing, COLTEC could not fail to participate in another edition of the main international trade fair for technical and non-woven textiles.

COLTEC won the INOVAtêxtil 2014 Award in the Technical and Innovative Fabrics category.
This national competition organized by CITEVE has as main objectives the encouragement and promotion of new and innovative ideas, materials, products, applications, services and business concepts associated with textile affiliation and respective sectors of application.
The Prize was published during the edition of iTechStyle is the first of the deliberation of the Jury on three categories: Fabrics, Products and Projects / Concept.
Innovation should be an essential component of business strategy and focus on increasing productivity and competitiveness of enterprises.
Corporate Incentive Systems are fundamental tools and in the last 5 years COLTEC has been developing an important set of R & D projects:
– Functionalization of laminated structures through surface modification technologies.
– Replacement of leather by cork skin for application in footwear / clothing.
– Flexible substrates coated by hot melt and high pressure polymer deposition.
The MELTFUN project consisted in the research and development of functionalisation solutions of laminated structures through surface modification technologies.
This project, which took place between 01/07/2009 and 10/31/2011, allowed COLTEC to implement the Research, Development and Innovation Management System (IDI) in accordance with NP 4457; as well as to develop a line of laminated textile substrates having functional properties obtained by the spray coating technology.
This project was approved under the ID & T SI – individual project and was co-financed by the ERDF through COMPETE.
Techtextil, the largest textile and non-woven textile fair in the world, registered a record edition, according to Paulo Neves, CEO of COLTEC, the company registered an increase in commercial contacts due to the increase in the offer of products and services.
From the products presented, a pajama with antibacterial treatment and moisturizing, thinking especially in the comfort of the people bedridden, and a thermoregulatory sheet, impermeable, breathable and resistant to the wrinkle, promises to be but one of the successful products launched by the company.
Of note is the presentation at this fair of the MELTCOAT project, which consists of the research and development of innovative solutions coated by polymer deposition in-situ through Hot-Melt Multi-Roll and High Pressure technologies.
This project was approved under the ID & T – individual project and is co – financed by the ERDF through COMPETE.
The COLTEC will be the first time in Cinte Techtextil China 2010, to be held in Shanghai, which will present its most innovative products designed with latest techniques developed by European industry in this area.
In addition to its laminated and coated fabrics, COLTEC will present one of their latest innovation projects, the MELTFUN. “We are presenting an important project based on the research and development of functionalization solutions of laminated structures through surface modification technologies.” reveals Francis Fernandes, the R & D department of the company.
This project was approved under SI ID&T ‐ individual project and it is co‐funded by FEDER through COMPETE.
Francisco Fernandes, Coltec R&D Manager will be present at the 2nd edition of iTechStyle summit’18, integrated in “Smart Textiles” session – “iTechcoat – New generation of multifunctional, intelligent and aesthetic textile structures”.
With an eligible investment amount of approximately 312.000 euros, iTechCoat project aims to research and develop a new generation of multifunctional, smart and aesthetics flexible structures surface modification by located hotmelt.
This is a project with a duration of 24 months (February 2016 to January 2018), funded by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) through the Northern Regional Operational Programme (NORTE2020), in the form of SI I&DT Individual.
The project includes the participation of the leading promotor, COLTEC, and the partners CITEVE and CeNTI.
Organized by CITEVE – Technology Center for Textile and Clothing Industries of Portugal, iTechStyle summit is an important platform for the debate and reflection on current scientific and technological knowledge involving innovative players in industry, technology suppliers, researchers, scientists and other related agents to the Textile and Clothing Sector from all over the world.
